Procedure

1. 3. If fuel does flow from the line, check for faulty car-
2. buretor. Refer to the “Carburetor” portions of this
3. Section.
4. tf fuel does not flow from the line, check for
5. clogged fuel tank cap vent, fuel tank filter screen,
6. fuel shutoff valve, fuel lines, and in-line fuel fitter.
7. 1. Engine starts hard, or runs roughly or
8. stalls at idle speed.
9. . Low idle fuel mixture or speed are improperly adjusted, Adjust the low idle speed screw,
10. then adjust the low idle tuel needle.
11. 2. Engine runs rich. (Indicated by black,
12. sooty exhaust smoke, misfiring, loss of
13. speed and power, governor hunting, or
14. excessive throttle opening.)

16. Choke partially closed during operation. Check the choke lever/inkage to ensure choke
17. is operating properly.
18. . Low idle fuel mixture is improperly adjusted. Adjust low idle fuel needle.
19. . Float level is set too high. With fuel bow! removed and carburetor inverted, the exposed
20. surface of float must be parallel with the bowl gasket surface of the carburetor body.
21. Dirt under the fuel inlet needle. Remove needie; clean needie and seat and blow with
22. compressed air.
23. . Bowl vent or air bleeds plugged. Remove fuel bowl, iow idle fuel adjusting needle, and
24. welch plugs. Clean vent, ports, and air bleeds. Blow out all passages with compressed
25. air.
