Kohler — Service Procedure

For these Kohler models: CH5, CH6.

Applies to: Kohler Ch5, Kohler Ch6

Before you start

  • NOTE: Choke control must be in the “OFF”
  • NOTE: Be sure retainer is hooked on tabs.

Procedure

  1. 5. When servicing the air cleaner, check the air
  2. Cleaner base. Make sure it is secured and not
  3. bent or damaged. Also check the air cleaner ele-
  4. ment retainer for damage or improper fit. Replace
  5. all bent or damaged air cleaner components.
  6. 6. Reinstall the paper element, element retainer, and
  7. precleaner as follows:
  8. a. Place the paper element into the air cleaner
  9. base.
  10. NOTE: The pleats must run parallel to the
  11. cylinder.
  12. b. Hook the element retainer into the top of the air
  13. cleaner base. Then hook the retainer into the
  14. bottom of the base to hold the paper element in
  15. place.
  16. NOTE: Be sure retainer is hooked on tabs.
  17. c. Tighten the four slot head screws evenly.
  18. NOTE: These screws must be snug to
  19. eliminate any air leaks around paper
  20. element.
