Before you start

  • EFI fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is stopped; relieve pressure before servicing.

Procedure

  1. Locate ECU and check part number; if 24 584 28 or higher it has built-in priming.
  2. Turn key switch to on/run; when fuel pump stops cycling (about one minute) system is primed, start engine.
  3. For plastic-cased ECUs below 24 584 28, cycle key switch off and on to restart pump until pump has cycled five times.
  4. Alternatively connect pressure gauge, depress and hold release button and crank until air is purged and fuel visible in discharge tube.
