Before you start
- Spring under tension; wear safety goggles
- Do not remove center screw until spring tension is released
Procedure
- Remove starter from blower housing.
- Pull rope out approx. 12 in. and tie a temporary slip knot.
- Remove rope retainer from inside handle; untie single knot; remove retainer and handle.
- Hold pulley firmly, untie slip knot, allow pulley to rotate slowly as spring tension releases.
- Remove rope from pulley; tie single knot in one end of new rope.
- Rotate pulley counterclockwise about 5 full turns until spring is tight.
- Rotate pulley clockwise until rope hole aligns with guide bushing; insert new rope.
- Tie slip knot 12 in. from free end; install handle and rope retainer; untie slip knot.
Specs & values
- Starter center screw torque 7.4-8.5 N·m (65-75 in. lb.)
