Before you start

  • Bypass and isolate the transfer switch before removing it from the enclosure. The bypass/isolation switch is energized; do not touch the isolation contact fingers or control circuit terminals.
  • Do not use excessive force on the mechanical handles.

Procedure

  1. Check that the manual bypass handle is in the OPEN position, the disconnect switch is in the AUTO position, and the ATS is supplying the load.
  2. Open the bottom cabinet door and turn the disconnect switch to the INHIBIT position.
  3. Position the bypass-selector switch to the same power source as the ATS.
  4. Move the manual-bypass handle to the BYPASS POSITION.
  5. For testing: rotate the crank mechanism counterclockwise until the ATS location pointer is aligned with test; the ATS TEST position lamp illuminates.
  6. Turn the disconnect switch to AUTO and run an automatic operation test as described in Section 6.5; end the test before proceeding.
  7. For isolating: rotate the crank mechanism counterclockwise until the ATS location pointer is aligned with isolate; the ATS ISOLATE position lamp illuminates.
  8. For removal, disconnect the multipin plugs and external connections from the ATS.
  9. Rotate the four panel latches to the vertical position.
  10. Slide the ATS forward and lock the mechanism into place, then remove the ATS from the cabinet.
  11. To reconnect, place the ATS on the slide mechanism and unlock the slide mechanism.
  12. Slide the ATS over the power panel latches and rotate the latches to the horizontal position.
  13. Turn the disconnect switch to INHIBIT and manually operate the ATS to the same position as the bypass switch.
  14. Reconnect the multipin harness plugs and external connections and rotate the crank mechanism clockwise until the ATS TEST light is illuminated.
  15. Turn the disconnect switch to AUTO, run an automatic operation test, then turn to INHIBIT and rotate the crank mechanism until the ATS is in AUTO; move the bypass handle to OPEN.
