Before you start

  • Bypass and isolate the transfer switch before removing it from the enclosure. The bypass/isolation switch is energized; do not touch the isolation contact fingers or control circuit terminals.
  • Do not use excessive force on the mechanical handles.

Procedure

  1. Check that the ATS is in the Auto position, the manual bypass handle is in the Open position, and the disconnect switch is in the Auto position.
  2. Turn the disconnect switch to the INHIBIT position.
  3. Position the bypass-selector switch to the same power source as the ATS.
  4. Move the manual-bypass handle to the BYPASS POSITION.
  5. For testing: rotate the crank mechanism counterclockwise until the ATS location pointer is aligned with test; the ATS TEST position lamp illuminates.
  6. Turn the disconnect switch to the AUTO position and run a test as described in Section 6.5; end the test before proceeding.
  7. For isolating: rotate the crank mechanism counterclockwise until the ATS location pointer is aligned with isolate; the ATS ISOLATE position lamp illuminates.
  8. For removal, disconnect the multipin plugs and external connections from the ATS.
  9. Slide the four corner latches of the ATS to the innermost position.
  10. Remove the ATS from the cabinet on the built-in cart.
  11. To reconnect, roll the cart back into the cabinet and slide the four corner latches to the outermost position.
  12. Turn the disconnect switch to INHIBIT and manually position the ATS to the same source as the bypass switch.
  13. Reconnect the multipin harness plugs and rotate the crank mechanism clockwise until the ATS is in the TEST position.
  14. Run a test as described in Section 6.5, then turn the disconnect switch to INHIBIT and rotate the crank mechanism clockwise until the ATS is in the AUTO position.
  15. Turn the disconnect switch to the AUTO position and move the manual bypass switch to the OPEN position (ATS now fully automatic).
