Before you start
- Service heads more frequently (200-hour intervals) if carbon builds up rapidly (leaded fuel).
Procedure
- After 400 hours, remove cylinder heads from engine.
- Remove carbon deposits from combustion chamber in head.
- Scrape and remove carbon with a sharp piece of wood to avoid scratching aluminum surfaces.
- Always use new cylinder head gaskets.
- Make sure head bolts are tightened in proper sequence and to specified torque value.
