Kohler 12RES / 18RES — Stopping Generator Set

Operation

Applies to: Kohler 12RES, Kohler 18RES, Kohler CH 740 engine, Kohler CH 980 engine

Procedure

  1. Run the generator set with no load for at least 2 minutes to ensure adequate engine cooldown.
  2. Move the generator set master switch to the OFF/RESET position. The engine stops.
  3. Automatic stopping: with the master switch in AUTO, open the contact across engine start leads 3 and 4.
  4. The ATS disconnects the load, then opens leads 3 and 4; the controller enters standby mode. Note: no engine cooldown time delay on the DC-RET controller.
