Kohler 12RES / 18RES — Precleaner Service

Procedure

  1. Place the generator set master switch in the OFF/RESET position.
  2. Disconnect the power to the battery charger.
  3. Disconnect the battery, negative (--) lead first.
  4. Loosen the cover retaining knob and remove the cover.
  5. Remove the precleaner from the paper element and wash in warm water with detergent.
  6. Rinse thoroughly, squeeze out excess water (do not wring), and allow to air dry.
  7. Saturate the precleaner with new engine oil and squeeze out all excess oil.
  8. Reinstall the precleaner over the paper element.
  9. Reinstall the air cleaner cover and secure with the cover retaining knob.
  10. Reconnect power to the battery charger and then the starting battery, negative (--) lead last.
