Procedure
- Disconnect all leads from one side of diode to be tested.
- With ohmmeter in lowest scale, measure across diode.
- Reverse ohmmeter leads and measure again.
- One reading should be very high; other should be approximately mid-scale.
- If both readings very high, diode is open.
- If both readings approximately mid-scale, diode is shorted.
- Replace any rectifier that gives doubtful results on either test.
