Before you start

  • When removing the crankshaft pulley using the gear puller, use a pad and carefully operate so as not to damage the thread. Set the gear puller securely to prevent the pulley from being damaged.
  • When installing the gear case, do not forget to install the two reinforcing bolts at the center.
  • When extracting the fuel injection pump drive gear using the gear puller, use a pad at the shaft and carefully operate so as not to damage the thread.

Procedure

  1. Perform steps 1) to 12) of the cylinder head disassembly procedure.
  2. Remove the cooling water pump.
  3. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
  4. Remove the gear case cover.
  5. Remove the fuel injection pump.
  6. Remove the idle gear assy.
  7. Remove the PTO drive gear.
  8. Remove the starting motor.
  9. Remove the flywheel.
  10. Remove the camshaft assy.
  11. Remove the gear case.
  12. Remove the oil seal from the gear case cover.

Tools required

  • Gear puller
  • Crankshaft pulley installing tool

Specs & torque values

  • Crankshaft pulley set bolt tightening torque: 3TNV82A-88 112.7-122.7 N-m (11.5-12.5 kgf-m)
  • 4TNV94L/98/106(T) 107.9-127.5 N-m (11.0-13.0 kgf-m)
  • Fuel pump drive gear nut tightening torque (without lube oil): 3TNV82A-88 78-88 N-m (8.0-9.0 kgf-m)
  • 4TNV94L/98/106(T) 113-123 N-m (11.5-12.5 kgf-m)
  • Gear backlash standard/limit, 3TNV82A-88: crankshaft/camshaft/PTO/fuel injection pump gears 0.07-0.18mm (limit 0.20mm)
  • lubricating oil pump gear 0.11-0.20mm (limit ~0.24mm, OCR uncertain)
  • Gear backlash standard/limit, 4TNV94L-106(T): crankshaft/camshaft gears 0.08-0.14mm (limit 0.16mm)
  • fuel injection pump/idle/PTO/balancer gears 0.12-0.18mm (limit 0.20mm)
  • lubricating oil pump gear 0.09-0.15mm (limit 0.17mm, OCR uncertain)
