Before you start

  • Never steam clean or pour cold water on an injection pump while it is still warm - may cause seizure of pump parts.
  • JDE90 Serrated Wrench MUST BE used to keep delivery valve fittings stationary; if rotated, pump must be recalibrated on a test stand.

Procedure

  1. Clean injection lines and area around the injection pump.
  2. Remove timing hole plug.
  3. Rotate engine until No. 1 piston is at TDC compression stroke; timing pin should enter hole in flywheel.
  4. Install JDG886 Timing Pin through hole in drive gear and thread into pump hub until it bottoms.
  5. Remove four injection pump drive gear cap screws using T45 TORX adapter and remove drive gear.
  6. Disconnect governor pigtail connectors and fuel shut-off solenoid lead.
  7. Disconnect lines (lube line, fuel inlet, leak-off, supply pump lines) and remove injection line nuts from delivery valves.
  8. Remove four mounting stud nuts and carefully remove pump; cap all delivery valve fittings.
