Procedure

1. Position crankshaft onto main bearing inserts using a hoist and lift sling.
2. Dip entire main bearing cap screws in clean engine oil.
3. Install each bearing cap, bearings, and cap screws with washer.
4. Align upper and lower thrust flanges on main thrust bearings.
5. Tighten Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 main bearing cap screws to 68 N·m (50 lb-ft).
6. Hand-tighten No. 5 main thrust bearing cap screws.
7. Gently pry crankshaft rearward then forward to align thrust washers on No. 5.
8. Tighten No. 5 main thrust bearing cap screws to 68 N·m (50 lb-ft).
9. Tighten all main bearing cap screws to 203 N·m (150 lb-ft).
10. Turn crankshaft by hand to check for easy rotation.
