Procedure

  1. 16. Remove cylinder head. Remove head gasket.
  2. 17. On SAE No. 3 flywheel housings, remove
  3. 18. On SAE No. 1 and 2 flywheel housings, remove
  4. 19. Remove oil pan and engine oil pump assembly.
  5. 20. Remove front timing gear cover.
  6. 21. Remove pistons and connecting rods. Identify for
  7. 22. Remove main bearing caps. Remove crankshaft
  8. 23. Remove camshaft and cam followers. Identify for
  9. 24. Remove liners and their O-ring seals. Mark liners
  10. 25. Remove piston cooling orifices.
  11. 26. Remove cylinder block plugs and engine serial
  12. 27. Refer to appropriate group for inspection and
  13. 1. Install all plugs in cylinder block that were removed
  14. 2. Install clean piston cooling orifices.
  15. 3. Install cam followers in hole from which originally
  16. 4. Install camshaft.
  17. 5. Install main bearings and crankshaft. Align timing
  18. 6. Install cylinder liners without O-rings and measure
  19. 7. Install piston and rod assemblies.
  20. 8. Install engine oil pump assembly.
