Before you start

  • NOTE: The fuel transfer pump is driven by a push rod (D)

Procedure

  1. 1. Disconnect fuel inlet line (A) and outlet line (B) and cap
  2. connections on fuel transfer pump and fuel lines to
  3. keep debris out of fuel system.
  4. 2. Remove cap screws (C) and remove fuel transfer
  5. pump assembly from cylinder block.
  6. NOTE: The fuel transfer pump is driven by a push rod (D)
  7. that rides on an eccentric camshaft lobe. The
  8. cylinder head must be removed to remove this
  9. push rod.
  10. 3. Cover opening on cylinder block to prevent dirt from
  11. entering the engine.
  12. 4. Inspect face of pump lever for wear. If lever face is
  13. worn flat or concave, replace pump.
