Procedure

  1. 10. If equipped, remove electronic governor, throttle
  2. 11. Remove water pump.
  3. 12. Remove engine oil filter and oil conditioning
  4. 13. Remove aftercooler and intake manifold
  5. 14. Remove rocker arm cover and breather hose.
  6. 15. Remove rocker arm assembly and push rods.
  7. 16. Remove cylinder head. Remove head gasket.
  8. 17. On SAE No. 3 flywheel housings, remove
  9. 18. On SAE No. 1 and 2 flywheel housings, remove
  10. 19. Remove oil pan and engine oil pump assembly.
  11. 20. Remove front timing gear cover.
  12. 21. Remove pistons and connecting rods. Identify for
  13. 22. Remove main bearing caps. Remove crankshaft
  14. 23. Remove camshaft and cam followers. Identify for
  15. 24. Remove liners and their O-ring seals. Mark liners
  16. 25. Remove piston cooling orifices.
  17. 26. Remove cylinder block plugs and engine serial
  18. 27. Refer to appropriate group for inspection and
  19. 1. Install all plugs in cylinder block that were removed
  20. 2. Install clean piston cooling orifices.
