Before you start
- Do not overtighten the retaining ring.
Procedure
- Thoroughly clean fuel filter/water bowl assembly and surrounding area.
- Connect a fuel line to filter drain adapter and drain all fuel.
- Loosen retaining ring 1/4 turn; remove retaining ring with filter element and water bowl.
- Inspect filter mounting base for cleanliness; clean as required.
- Remove water bowl; drain and clean; dry with compressed air.
- Install water bowl onto new filter element; tighten adapter securely.
- Inspect filter base seal ring; replace as needed.
- Install new filter element; index properly on mounting base.
- Install retaining ring and tighten about 1/3 turn until it snaps into detent.
- Bleed fuel system.
- If applicable, connect water in fuel sensor connector.
