Before you start

  • Do not contact wheel stops or hold the wheel in a corner - fluid will stop and the pump will be in pressure relief mode; sudden overflow may develop.

Procedure

  1. Raise front end off the ground until wheels are free to turn.
  2. Remove fluid return line at reservoir inlet connector and plug the connector; position line toward a large container.
  3. While running engine at idle, fill reservoir with new power steering fluid; turn wheel both directions (do not contact stops).
  4. Check draining fluid for contamination; replace lines and clean/replace components if foreign material evident.
  5. Install all lines and hoses; fill with new fluid and bleed; operate engine about 15 minutes.
