Ingersoll Rand — Motor Assembly Lubrication

Maintenance · air motor

From a Ingersoll Rand owner's manual — check it applies to your exact model before use.

Before you start

  • Do not use synthetic or detergent lubricants in air motor; synthetic lubricants will result in oil blowing by piston rings.

Procedure

  1. Add oil through filler opening until oil flows from level plug hole; add oil slowly to prevent spilling.
  2. Level-check the motor daily or at the start of each shift after accumulated water has been drained off.
  3. When operated below freezing, allow water to separate from oil at end of shift, then drain water and refill to level plug.
  4. All oil may be drained at end of shift and motor refilled with new oil.

Specs & values

  • Motor oil capacity 3/8 quarts (0.35 litres)
