Ingersoll Rand — Installation Over Open End Of Beam (1/2 to 5 ton Trolleys)

Installation

From a Ingersoll Rand owner's manual — check it applies to your exact model before use.

Before you start

  • Adequately support the trolley when lifting into place on the beam; the trolley alone may weigh more than 125 lb (57 kg)

Procedure

  1. Refer to Dwg. MHP0785 and instructions to position spacer washers for measured beam flange width (W)
  2. The hoisting mechanism must be located on the center line of the trolley
  3. Place equal number of spacer washers (7) on each side of the hanger shaft (9) to obtain proper 'D' dimension
  4. Calculate 'D' using measured beam flange width 'W' and dimensions 'B' and 'C'
  5. Place equal numbers of remaining spacer washers on the outside of each side plate
  6. In every case there should be at least one spacer washer between the locknut (8) and the side plate
  7. Tighten both hanger shaft locknuts (8) to the minimum torque setting listed for trolley size
  8. Check the 'D' dimension to verify proper adjustment; install trolley over open end of beam
  9. Check total clearance between beam and trolley wheel flanges; securely install beam/rail stops
  10. Upon completion of installation, conduct initial operating checks as described in OPERATION section

Specs & values

  • Locknut (item 8) torque PT005-8: 75 - 90 ft. lbs (102 - 122 N m)
  • Clearance between beam and wheel flanges: 1/16 to 1/8 in (1.6 to 3.2 mm) maximum per side
