Before you start
- Never run the generator without the air filter.
- Engine will smoke during initial startup if too much oil is left in the air filter.
Procedure
- Unsnap the air cleaner cover clips, remove the cover, and remove the element.
- Wash the air filter in household detergent and warm water, or nonflammable/high flashpoint solvent; rinse thoroughly.
- Allow the air filter to dry thoroughly.
- Soak the air filter in clean engine oil and squeeze out the excess oil.
- Reinstall the air cleaner element and the cover.
