Procedure

  1. 2.2.1 Ignition Battery Test Procedure
  2. 1.
  3. Connect a DVM (set for DC Volts) to the IGN BATT terminals. Connect
  4. the Red (+) lead of the DVM to the (+) terminal and the Black lead (-)
  5. of the DVM to the (-) terminal.
  6. 2.
  7. The DVM should indicate 12 VDC (+ 2 V , - 0 VDC). If this reading is
  8. lower than specified, recharge the batteries to 13.8 VDC before
  9. proceeding.
  10. WARNING:
  11. Do not use batteries (AGM or Gell Electrolyte)
  12. that read below 9.0 VDC, as the battery may be
  13. discharged below a safe point and could cause
  14. gassing during recharge.

  20. 2.2.3 Starting a Local APU Test
  21. Procedure:
  22. 1.
  23. Locate APU control board (mounted alongside the ECM).
  24. 2.2.2 Engine Lubrication
  25. Check Engine lubrication Level Procedure:
  26. Check the engine crankcase oil level. If necessary, add oil to fill it to
  27. the FULL mark. DO NOT OVERFILL. Refer to the engine
  28. manufacturers’ operator’s manual for proper fill capacities and oil
  29. types. Ensure that the same brand of oil is used for topping the oil
  30. level, as some oil manufacturer’s additives are not compatible with
  31. each other. Never attempt to measure the oil level, or add oil, when
  32. the engine is in operation.
  33. CAUTION:
  34. Do not attempt to crank or start the engine
  35. before it has been serviced with the
  36. recommended oil, or engine failure will result.
  37. NOTE:
  38. Refer to the Alpha 5 Generator OPERATOR’S manual
  39. (p/n Tp-6076) provided by the manufacturer.
