Hercules — Stopping the Engine

Operation

From a Hercules owner's manual — check it applies to your exact model before use.

Before you start

  • Be sure the proper method of stopping the equipment and engine is fully understood before starting the engine.

Procedure

  1. If engine operated at or near full load, allow it to run at fast idle (600 to 800 RPM) for one or two minutes after load is removed before stopping.
  2. If atmospheric temperature is below freezing and no anti-freeze solution is used, drain the complete water circulating system including engine water jackets, water pump, radiator and all water pipes.
  3. If an anti-freeze solution is used, check with a hydrometer to make sure the solution will not freeze.
  4. Do not fill batteries with water when shutting down; fill just before starting up for the day's run.

Specs & values

  • Fast idle 600 to 800 RPM
