Hercules GTA4800 — To assemble the valves

Applies to: Hercules G4800 series engine

Before you start

  • Valve stem seals must be installed with the Hercules valve seal installation tool. Part No. 40-3104703.

Procedure

  1. Thoroughly clean grinding compound off valves, stems, and guides; oil stems and insert valves.
  2. Install valve stem seals using Hercules valve seal installation tool Part No. 40-3104703.
  3. Using valve spring compressor, compress valve springs and insert valve locks.
  4. Pour gasoline in valve openings to test for leaks; regrind leaking valves.
  5. Install new cylinder head gasket.
  6. Install cylinder head assembly.
  7. Adjust valve tappets to proper setting.
