Hercules G-1600 — To Assemble the Water Pump

Before you start
- Press on the outer flange of the seal to avoid damaging the seal.
- Press only on the outer bearing face and not on the end of the shaft.
- Do not press on the impeller as the clearance may be altered.
Procedure
- Press the new seal (5) into the housing (1); press on the outer flange of the seal only.
- Press the shaft-and-bearing assembly (3) into the housing (1); press only on the outer bearing face.
- Supporting the pump shaft on the outer shaft end, press the impeller (4) on the shaft.
- Support the pump on the impeller end of the shaft and press the fan and pulley hub (2) onto the shaft.
- Test rotation of the pump to see that it does not bind or have excessive resistance.

- Impeller installed correctly when .005 to .015 inch clearance exists between impeller and shaft housing
