YD — Generator Rotor and Stator Assembly

For the YD.

Before you start

  • Be sure the drive disk is assembled with the chamfer on the flywheel side

Procedure

  1. Use a hoist and sling to support rotor
  2. Ensure the drive disk is assembled with the chamfer on the flywheel side
  3. Apply torque values as shown in Figure 2-9
  4. Install air baffle
  5. Using a hoist and safe lifting device, carefully move the stator into position over the rotor with leads exiting in top position
  6. Apply a thin film of Molykote grease to mating surfaces of the end bearing and the end bearing hole
  7. Install end bell assembly on the stator with the generator lead opening at top position
  8. Replace the stud nuts and torque to 20 ft lbs (27 Nom)
  9. Install the battery charge regulator bracket in the upright position
  10. Using a lead hammer, tap the end bell at horizontal and vertical plane to relieve stress
  11. Retorque end bell stud nuts
  12. Route generator leads through opening in AC control box and secure saddle to generator
  13. Connect control leads and verify all connections are correct and secure
  14. Connect the field leads F1 and F2 to the terminal board
