Procedure

  1. Remove, Disconnect: Remove air cleaner housing with air intake cover.
  2. Remove upper part of toothed belt cover - see operation "Toothed Belt Cover - Upper Part, Remove and Install".
  3. Remove ribbed V-belts - see operation "Ribbed V-belts, Remove and Install".
  4. Remove ribbed V-belt tensioner - see operation "Ribbed V-belt Tensioner, Remove and Install".
  5. Remove lower part of toothed belt cover - see operation "Toothed Belt Cover - Lower Part, Remove and Install".
  6. Adjust: Screw fastening bolt for toothed belt drive gear into crankshaft and turn crankshaft in engine rotational direction until marks on toothed belt drive gear and oil pump housing are flush.
  7. At the same time, notches on camshaft pulley and rear toothed belt cover must be flush. Turn crankshaft slowly and smoothly.
  8. Move toothed belt tension roller upward against spring force until bore holes align. Fix toothed belt tension roller in place with suitable drift.
  9. Mark running direction (front edge) of the toothed belt for identification and remove toothed belt.
  10. Install, Connect: Check toothed belt for wear - replace if necessary.
  11. Install toothed belt - ensure that tensioned side is taut.
  12. Observe timing marks. Adjust toothed belt tension - see operation "Toothed Belt Tension, Adjust".
  13. Remove fastening bolt from toothed belt drive gear and install toothed belt cover, lower part - see operation "Toothed Belt Cover, Lower Part, Remove and Install".
  14. Install ribbed V-belt tensioner - see operation "Ribbed V-belt Tensioner, Remove and Install".
  15. Install ribbed V-belt - see operation "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install".
  16. Install upper part of toothed belt cover - see operation "Toothed Belt Cover - Upper Part, Remove and Install".
  17. Install air cleaner housing with air intake cover.
