Procedure

  1. Remove, Disconnect: Remove air cleaner housing with air intake cover.
  2. Remove upper part of toothed belt cover - see operation "Toothed Belt Cover - Upper Part, Remove and Install".
  3. Remove ribbed V-belts - see operation "Ribbed V-belts, Remove and Install".
  4. Remove ribbed V-belt tensioner - see operation "Ribbed V-belt Tensioner, Remove and Install".
  5. Remove lower part of toothed belt cover - see operation "Toothed Belt Cover - Lower Part, Remove and Install".
  6. Remove toothed belt - see operation "Toothed Belt, Remove and Install".
  7. Remove toothed belt tension roller - see operation "Toothed Belt Tension Roller, Remove and Install".
  8. Remove toothed belt drive gear from crankshaft. Detach engine damping block support from cylinder block.
  9. Remove engine vacuum hose from camshaft housing cover.
  10. Remove camshaft housing cover from camshaft housing.
  11. Remove camshaft sprocket - hold with open-ended wrench on hex of camshaft.
  12. Unclip cable for crankshaft position sensor from rear toothed belt cover.
  13. Remove rear toothed belt cover from oil pump and camshaft housing.
  14. Install, Connect: Attach rear toothed belt cover to oil pump and camshaft housing - tightening torque 6 Nm / 4 lbf.ft.
  15. Clip cable for crankshaft position sensor to rear toothed belt cover - note cable routing.
  16. Attach camshaft sprocket to camshaft - hold with open-ended wrench on hex of camshaft - tightening torque 45 Nm / 33 lbf.ft.
  17. Install camshaft housing cover at camshaft housing - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf.ft.
  18. Attach engine vacuum hose to camshaft housing cover.
  19. Attach engine damping block support to cylinder block - tightening torque 50 Nm / 37 lbf.ft.
  20. Slide toothed belt drive gear onto crankshaft journal - note installation position.
  21. Install toothed belt tension roller - see operation "Toothed Belt Tension Roller, Remove and Install".
  22. Install toothed belt - see operation "Toothed Belt, Remove and Install".
  23. Install lower part of toothed belt cover - see operation "Toothed Belt Cover - Lower Part, Remove and Install".
  24. Install ribbed V-belt tensioner - see operation "Ribbed V-belt Tensioner, Remove and Install".
  25. Install ribbed V-belt - see operation "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install".
  26. Install upper part of toothed belt cover - see operation "Toothed Belt Cover - Upper Part, Remove and Install".
  27. Install air cleaner housing with air intake cover.

Specs & torque values

  • Tightening torque, rear toothed belt cover to oil pump/camshaft housing: 6 Nm / 4 lbf.ft
  • Tightening torque, camshaft sprocket: 45 Nm / 33 lbf.ft
  • Tightening torque, camshaft housing cover: 8 Nm / 6 lbf.ft
  • Tightening torque, engine damping block support to cylinder block: 50 Nm / 37 lbf.ft
