General Motors — Intake Manifold Installation
Installation
From a General Motors service manual — check it applies to your exact model before use.
Procedure
- Install gaskets to the cylinder heads with tab and/or arrow facing front.
- Apply a 5 mm (3/16-inch) bead of RTV sealer on the front and rear block surfaces (5.0L/5.7L).
- Install intake manifold to the engine.
- Install intake manifold bolts and studs.
- Torque to 47 N-m (35 lbs ft) in sequence (5.0L/5.7L).
- For 7.4L install seals and torque bolts to 40 N-m (30 lbs ft) in sequence.
Specs & values
- 5.0L/5.7L intake manifold bolts: 47 N-m (35 lbs ft)
- 7.4L intake manifold bolts: 40 N-m (30 lbs ft)
