General Motors — Fuel System Purge Procedure

Before you start

  • This procedure requires a minimum of 3 purge cycles to expel all the air from the fuel rails and fuel lines.

Procedure

  1. Make sure the battery is connected.
  2. Check to make sure there is fuel in the tank.
  3. Turn the key to the KOEO position.
  4. Wait for the wait-to-start-light to go out.
  5. Turn the key off and repeat steps 3 and 4 two additional times.
  6. Turn the key back on (forth time), when the wait to start light goes out, start the engine; if the engine fails to start refer to the Fuel System Pressure Check procedure in this manual.

Specs & torque values

  • Key On Engine Off (KOEO) position
  • Wait-to-start light 20 seconds timing
