Before you start
- To reduce the risk of fire and personal injury, relieve fuel system pressure before servicing fuel system components
- Cover fuel line fittings with a shop towel before disconnecting to catch leaked fuel
Procedure
- Disconnect negative battery cable to avoid possible fuel discharge
- Loosen fuel filler cap to relieve any tank vapor pressure
- Connect fuel pressure gauge J 34730-1 to fuel pressure connector assembly using a shop towel
- Install bleed hose into an approved container and open valve to bleed system pressure
- Drain any fuel remaining in the gauge into an approved container
