General Motors 8.1 — Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure

Before you start
- Relieve fuel system pressure before servicing fuel system components.
Procedure
- Turn the ignition OFF.
- Disconnect the negative battery cable to avoid possible fuel discharge.
- Remove the fuel injector sight shield.
- Connect the J 34730-1A fuel pressure gauge to the fuel pressure valve.
- Wrap a shop towel around the fitting while connecting to avoid spillage.
- Install the bleed hose of the gauge into an approved container.
- Open the valve on the gauge to bleed system pressure.
- Drain any remaining fuel in the gauge into an approved container.
