Before you start

  • DANGER: Insulation resistance testers such as Hi-Pot testers and megohmmeters are source of high and dangerous electrical voltage
  • Follow tester manufacturer's instructions carefully
  • Use common sense to avoid dangerous electrical shock

Procedure

  1. Connect Hi-Pot tester to winding being tested
  2. Operate tester according to manufacturer instructions
  3. Observe 'Breakdown' lamp during test procedure to indicate insulation breakdown in winding being tested
  4. If tests indicate insulation resistance of winding is below safe value, winding should be dried before operating
