Before you start

  • Disable generator from starting; disconnect negative battery cable; verify utility power secured.

Procedure

  1. Remove the cover on the contactor assembly.
  2. Set multimeter to ohms scale. Measure coil resistance and compare to chart.
  3. On J3 block, measure resistance between red wire (blue covering) and white wire (yellow covering).
  4. Measure resistance from red wire (blue covering) to white wire (blue covering)/red wire (yellow covering).
  5. Measure resistance from white wire (yellow covering) to white wire (blue covering)/red wire (yellow covering).
  6. If proper values not measured, replace closing coil. If proper, proceed.
  7. Remove screw from PCB and unplug harness. Manually transfer to utility position if needed.
  8. Measure resistance between yellow and brown wires on female side of plug. Less than 1 ohm. If not, replace LS1 (0D4516).
  9. Measure resistance between blue and brown wires. INFINITY. If not, replace LS1 (0D4516).
  10. Measure resistance between orange and gray wires. Less than 1 ohm. If not, replace LS2 (0D4516).
  11. Measure resistance between green and gray wires. INFINITY. If not, replace LS2 (0D4516).
  12. If all tests favorable, replace PCB (0D7400).
