Before you start

  • Hazardous voltages inside transfer switch enclosures can cause death or severe injury
  • Turn off main circuit breaker in load center before starting installation

Procedure

  1. Select a location on left or right side of load center; remove covers of load center and transfer switch, save screws
  2. Measure and cut conduit to length, snap fittings on ends, locate and remove matching knockout on load center
  3. Attach flexible conduit to both enclosures through a knockout, hold transfer switch against wall, mark and anchor to wall
  4. Fish pre-assembled wire harness through conduit, strip each wire 5/8" and connect to correspondingly marked circuit breakers
  5. Insert unmarked BLACK wires into UTIL MAIN 2-pole breaker; attach WHITE wire to neutral bar (right side), GREEN wire to ground bar (left side)
  6. Install conduit/fittings/wire between Power Inlet Box and transfer switch; connect PIB black wire to Meter A wiring, red wire to Meter B wiring (route through CTs on 6296/6380)
  7. In main load center, remove wires from breakers for relocated loads, connect harness wires with wire connectors per circuit worksheet
  8. Remove two adjacent single-pole breakers and install new 60A or 100A 2-pole breaker in their place; insert BLACK harness wires into new breaker
  9. Reinstall covers, turn ON main breaker in load center, turn on branch breakers, turn ON UTIL MAIN in transfer switch
