Before you start

  • The difference in weight between cylinders of the assembled piston, piston pin, connecting rod and rings should not exceed 0.35 ounce (10 grams).

Procedure

  1. Install the rings into piston with scribed marks at end of rings facing upward.
  2. Set the Plastigauge to measure oil clearance.
  3. Ensure weight difference between cylinders of the assembled piston, piston pin, connecting rod and rings does not exceed 0.35 ounce (10 grams).

Tools required

  • Plastigauge
