Generac — Oil and Oil Filter Change Procedure

For these Generac models: EcoGen 6kW Generator, GT-530.

Applies to: Generac Ecogen 6Kw Generator, Generac Gt 530

Before you start

  • Hot oil may cause burns. Allow engine to cool before draining oil. Avoid prolonged or repeated skin exposure with used oil.

Procedure

  1. Start the engine by moving the AUTO/OFF/MANUAL switch to MANUAL and run until it is thoroughly warmed up.
  2. Shut OFF the engine by moving the switch to the OFF position.
  3. Immediately after the engine shuts OFF, pull the oil drain hose free of its retainer.

  • API Service Class SJ, SL or better
  • Synthetic 5W-30
