Generac — Changing the Engine Oil Filter

For these Generac models: 004666, 004666-1, 005011, 005011-0, Model 004666, Model 005011.

Applies to: Generac Model 004666, Generac Model 005011

Procedure

  1. With the oil drained, remove the old oil filter by turning it counterclockwise.
  2. Apply a light coating of clean engine oil to the gasket of the new filter.
  3. Screw the new filter on by hand until its gasket lightly contacts the oil filter adapter.
  4. Then, tighten the filter an additional 3/4 to one turn.
  5. Refill with the proper recommended oil.
  6. Start the engine and check for leaks.
