Generac — A VOM meter can be used to test the stator windings

For these Generac models: 389/206/163cc, 410cc, GP1800, GP3250, GP5000, GP5500, GP6500, GP7000, GP8000.

Applies to: Generac Gp1800, Generac Gp3250, Generac Gp5000, Generac Gp5500, Generac Gp6500, Generac Gp7000, Generac Gp8000

Procedure

  1. An open circuit condition
  2. A “short-to-ground” condition
  3. A short circuit between windings
  4. Disconnect Wires 11, 22, 33, 44 from the receptacle
  5. Make sure all of the disconnected leads are isolated
  6. Set a VOM to measure resistance.
  7. Connect one test lead to Stator Lead 11. Connect the
