Procedure

  1. Set the speed pot (R5) fully counterclockwise.
  2. Set all other potentiometers (R12, R13, R22, R26) to their mid-point.
  3. Set Jumper J2 to its FAST position.
  4. Adjust Speed Pot R5 clockwise to obtain the correct AC frequency.
  5. Check no-load stability; improve by adjusting R12 and R13 clockwise.
  6. Apply 25 percent of rated load and check stability; adjust R22 clockwise if oscillations occur.
  7. Restart engine and observe startup characteristics; adjust R26 clockwise to reduce startup overshoot.
  8. Apply rated block load; adjust R12 and R13 counterclockwise to improve recovery from block load, R26 counterclockwise to improve recovery from load dump.

Specs & values

  • System should reach stability at all load points with not more than four (4) oscillations
  • System should recover to within one (1) Hertz of transients
  • Steady state in less than two (2) seconds for all load changes
  • No-load to full-load droop should be less than 0.5 Hertz
