Generac — Cleaning The Generator

Procedure

  1. Open the generator main circuit breaker. NO
  2. Disconnect all Wires 4 from the voltage regulator.
  3. Provide an external source to blow warm, dry air through
  4. Start the generator and let it run for 2 or 3 hours.
  5. Shut the generator down and repeat the stator and rotor
  6. AUTO position:
  7. OFF Position:
  8. MANUAL Position:
  9. Verify that the AUTO/OFF/MANUAL switch is set to
  10. Press and hold the “Set Exercise Time” switch for sev­
  11. Once the red LED’s stop flashing, the generator will start
  12. The standard start sequence will be initiated.
  13. The unit will run at 2,400 RPM.
  14. If utility is lost during exercise, the controller will do the
  15. The AUTO-OFF-MANUAL switch is set to the AUTO position.
  16. The NOT IN AUTO dip switch is set to the OFF position
  17. No alarms are present.
  18. Check that the transfer switch main contacts are at
  19. Check that utility source voltage is available to transfer
  20. Set the generator AUTO-OFF-MANUAL switch to its
  21. Actuate the generator main line circuit breaker to its “On”
  22. On the generator panel, set the AUTO-OFF-MANUAL
  23. On the generator, set the main line circuit breaker to it’s
  24. Turn OFF the power supply to the transfer switch, using
  25. Manually actuate the transfer switch main contacts to
  26. On the generator panel, set the AUTO-OFF-MANUAL
  27. Let the engine warm up and stabilize for a minute or two
  28. Set the generator main line circuit breaker to its “On” or
  29. Set the generator main line circuit breaker to its OFF or
  30. Let the generator run at no-load for a few minutes, to cool.
  31. Set the generator AUTO-OFF-MANUAL switch to OFF.
  32. Turn off the utility power supply to the transfer switch
  33. Manually actuate the transfer switch to its UTILITY
  34. Turn on the utility power supply to the transfer switch,
  35. Set the generator AUTO-OFF-MANUAL switch to AUTO.
