Before you start

  • When bending the tang, do not force the Viton-tipped fuel inlet needle against the seat or the Viton tip will be damaged.

Procedure

  1. Remove the carburetor from the intake manifold and disconnect all connections to the carburetor.
  2. Remove the fuel bowl cover from the carburetor main body and drain the fuel from the fuel bowl.
  3. Invert the carburetor assembly and place a straight-edge across the surface of the fuel bowl.
  4. The toes of the floats should just lightly touch the straight-edge.
  5. To adjust, bend the float tang. Both floats must be parallel to the straight-edge and not cocked or offset.
  6. Bend the float shafts to even out the floats; recheck float level.
