Procedure

  1. Install auxiliary starter switch; position crankshaft as shown for the sequence.
  2. Bleed the hydraulic lifter to fully collapsed with the compressor tool.
  3. Insert low-limit clearance gauge between valve stem and rocker arm of valve checked.
  4. If less than specified, install a 0.060 inch longer push rod.
  5. At Position 1 check No. 1, 4, 8 intake and No. 1, 3, 7 exhaust.
  6. At Position 2 check No. 3, 7 intake and No. 2, 6 exhaust.
  7. At Position 3 check No. 2, 5, 6 intake and No. 4, 5, 8 exhaust.
