Procedure
- Force the crankshaft toward the rear of the engine.
- Install a dial indicator with contact against the crankshaft flange, axis parallel to crankshaft axis.
- Zero the dial indicator, push crankshaft forward and note the reading.
- If end play exceeds limit, inspect thrust bearing faces for scratches, burrs, nicks or dirt.
- If less than minimum wear limit, replace the thrust washers.
