Before you start

  • Use caution when removing the impeller; tension on the seal spring will be released as the impeller is unscrewed.

Procedure

  1. Turn the cross arm on the seal grease cup (46) clockwise until it rests against the cover.
  2. Use an impeller wrench to remove the impeller, or place a block of wood against a vane and strike it sharply with a hammer.
  3. Unscrew the impeller in a counterclockwise direction (when facing the impeller).
  4. Inspect the impeller and replace it if cracked or badly worn.
  5. Slide the impeller adjusting shims (49) off the shaft and record their thickness.
