Before you start
- Fuel and its vapors are extremely flammable
Procedure
- Treat any stored fuel with fuel stabilizer
- Operate engine 5-10 minutes to circulate treated fuel before shutdown
- Or drain fuel tank outdoors using a non-conductive vacuum siphon into an approved container
- Run engine outdoors until it stops from lack of gasoline to clear remaining fuel
- Turn fuel valve to OFF prior to storage
- Allow generator to cool before cleaning and storage
- Change oil
- Remove spark plug, pour about one teaspoon of oil through spark plug hole, pull recoil starter several times, reinstall spark plug
- Cover generator and store in a clean, dry place away from ignition sources
