Detroit Diesel — Removal of Wastegate Actuator

Before you start
- Significant tension on actuator rod and swing arm; take care not to damage swing arm pin when removing adjusting rod.
Procedure
- Shut off engine, apply parking brake, chock wheels, perform safety steps.
- Remove turbocharger (section 6.7.2).
- Loosen jam nut on wastegate adjusting rod.
- Remove two nuts securing actuator to actuator bracket.
- Remove and discard E-clip holding adjusting rod onto actuator swing-arm pin.
- Remove adjusting rod and jam nut from actuator swing-arm pin; take care due to tension.
- Remove adjusting rod and jam nut from actuator rod.
- Remove actuator and heat shield from mounting bracket.
