Procedure
- Strip wire ends 1/4 inch.
- Re-twist any loose wire strands.
- Slide 2-inch pieces of heat shrink tube over wire for later use.
- Insert ends of wires into splice joint and crimp.
- Solder the wires and crimp joint together.
- Center heat shrink tube over splice and shrink.
- Wrap wires with electrical tape or heat shrink tubing. Maintain at least 1/2 wrap overlap.
- Once electrical tape or heat shrink tubing is in place, there should be no exposed wires.
Tools required
- Crimp tool
- Solder iron
- Heat gun
Specs & torque values
- 1/4 inch wire ends
- 2-inch heat shrink tube pieces
- Electrical tape or heat shrink tubing
- 1/2 wrap overlap requirement
