Detroit Diesel — Install Injector Tube
Installation
From a Detroit Diesel service manual — check it applies to your exact model before use.
Procedure
- Place installer J 5286-4C in injector tube.
- Insert pilot J 5286-5 through small opening and thread into installer.
- Check clearance at top between flange and tool; should be .001 to .010 in.
- Slip injector tube into injector bore and drive in place.
- Upset lower end of injector tube using upsetting die J 5286-6 and approximately 30 lb-ft torque.
- Remove installing tools and ream injector tube.
