From a Detroit Diesel service manual — check it applies to your exact model before use.
Procedure
- Remove carbon deposits from beveled seat of injector tube in cylinder head.
- Use injector tube bevel reamer J 5286-9 or cylindrical wire brush.
- Fill injector with fuel oil if necessary.
- Insert injector into tube with dowel registering with locating hole.
- Slide rack control lever over to fully engage injector rack clevis.
- Install injector clamp, special washer and bolt; tighten to 20-25 lb-ft.
- Move rocker arm assembly into position and secure brackets.
- Install fuel pipes and tighten to specified torque.
